Job Description

In the world of retail, things happen fast. Especially at Shop Direct. The name behind some of the UK’s best known brands, we have ambitious plans for the future. In fact, we aim to become the home of online retail. And by driving the development of online content for all of our Group websites, you’ll have a vital role to play.

About the role

Focused on delivering a great customer experience and an enhanced online performance, you’ll deliver high quality content that’s interesting, engaging and of course, search engine optimised – for all of our Group sites. That content will include product information such as reviews, imagery, video, cross-sells and up-sells, and non-product content like editorial, customer feedback and customer service messages. Either way, you’ll make sure the content drives traffic to our site, increases conversion rates and fits with the values of each individual brand. We’ll look to you to develop the kinds of tools and processes that will enable us to personalise our content by brand and customer segment, and to keep up to date with – and apply – industry best practice.

Candidate Requirements

About you

With a passion for e-commerce, language and the role that words can play in differentiating brands, you’ll know how to deliver content that’s imaginative and engaging, and that utilises all the latest e-commerce technologies. Experience of managing the needs of Marketing and Product & Merchandising teams is important, and we’ll be looking for evidence that you can raise standards and implement innovative, highly successful ideas. With a customer-centric approach, you’ll be able to put yourself in our customers’ shoes and your drive and initiative mean you’ll be able to make things happen at pace. Your background could be agency-side but ideally you’ll already be working in-house.

About us

With companies ranging from Littlewoods, Kays and Very through to Marshall Ward and Woolworths.co.uk, and some 400 national and own brands such as Nike, Diesel, Miss Sixty, Dyson, Bosch and Sony, Shop Direct has something for everyone. We have our own financial services business and, with a turnover of £1.6 billion and 5 million customers, we’re the largest home shopping and online retailer in the UK. Some 56% of our products are now sold online – and we’re on track to hit our target of 80% by 2010/2011. In fact, we want to become the home of online retail. And you could help us get there.
