Job Description
We are seeking an individual with a passion for all things internet and a grasp of the issues that matter to e-commerce and online marketing professionals. You will work from Econsultancy's New York office and are already based either in, or within commuting distance to, the city.
The editor’s primary areas of focus will be on blogging, interviews, events coverage and helping our analysts to create the market-leading research that we are known for.
The successful candidate will help us grow our award-winning business as we roll out through the US. With a new website and a team of bright colleagues for support, there's no better time to join Econsultancy.
Candidate Requirements
Key tasks
Blogging – researching and writing e-commerce and digital marketing-focused stories (3-5 per day), editing blog posts, blog seeding and marketing, as well as general blog maintenance.
Interviews – conducting interviews for publication on the blog (c. 2-3 per week) and in the email newsletters.
Research – supporting Econsultancy’s researchers and analysts by helping to compile, edit and promote our research.
Events – covering in-house and third party events.
Community – participating in the internet community both online and offline, building further awareness of our brand, and being viewed as a key voice in our sector.
Networking – developing relationships among the client side, agency side and with technology vendors. The role does not extend to pursuing any commercial deals though we encourage an entrepreneurial culture.
Skills
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Solid grasp of fundamentals of online marketing / e-commerce
- A genuine enthusiasm for the internet and an interest in business
- Preferably BA degree
- A background in journalism and / or a background in internet marketing
- Excellent writing skills, spelling and grammar
- Sound numerate skills
- A high level of attention to detail
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel; basic knowledge of HTML
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized, efficient, focused and proactive
- Ability to work effectively on several active projects at any one time
- Resourcefulness and willingness to get stuck in
- Familiarity with the tools of our trade, e.g. Google, Twitter, Delicious, RSS, etc.
