Job Description
In the world of retail, things happen fast. Especially at Shop Direct. The name behind some of the UK’s best known brands, we have ambitious plans for the future. In fact, we aim to become the home of online retail. And by coming up with ways to improve the search experience for all Shop Direct Group customers, you’ll have a vital role to play.
About the role
It will be down to you to develop strategies, plans and initiatives that will improve the customer search experience on all of our Group websites – and ultimately encourage them to buy. This is about using the latest web analytics tools and data to work out how we can improve our performance and make it even easier for customers to find what they are looking for. You’ll work out where the major issues are when it comes to customer searches, and you’ll develop a strategy and plan of initiatives to put those issues right. We’ll expect you to work with our Marketing Services team on channel, creative and landing page optimisation for each key traffic driver (direct URL, email and paid and natural search), and to liaise with the Customer Insight team to make sure that the relevant analytical tools, data and reports are always available.
Candidate Requirements
About you
We’re looking for someone with top-tier e-commerce experience, including search. You have a track record of raising standards and implementing innovative and successful new ideas. Highly customer-centric, you’ll know how to create the kind of online search experience that will maximise conversion. It goes without saying that you’re comfortable with data and web analytics tools and methodologies, and you’ll be highly structured and analytical in your approach. Experience of managing the needs of Marketing and Product & Merchandising teams is important, and you’ll be able to work with and present to senior stakeholders.
About us
With companies ranging from Littlewoods, Kays and Very through to Marshall Ward and Woolworths.co.uk, and some 400 national and own brands such as Nike, Diesel, Miss Sixty, Dyson, Bosch and Sony, Shop Direct has something for everyone. We have our own financial services business and, with a turnover of £1.6 billion and 5 million customers, we’re the largest home shopping and online retailer in the UK. Some 56% of our products are now sold online – and we’re on track to hit our target of 80% by 2010/2011. In fact, we want to become the home of online retail. And you could help us get there.
