Position: Market Insight Manager
Location: Welwyn Garden City
Salary: circa £45k

ROLE:
An innovative and exciting new role exists within the Direct Marketing team in tesco.com.  This role will support the Leadership Team and Product Categories by leading the analysis of the on line market. (Non-food)

The role will provide structure to our trade plans and ranging decisions by producing insightful
interpretations of market data, highlighting key seasonal trends, growth product areas and brands.

Given the high profile of the team and its consistent exposure to senior executive management, those appointed must be able to compliment strong technical ability with well developed interpersonal skills, demonstrable problem solving abilities and a sound commercial awareness of the business issues pertinent to the work in hand.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Developing and improving their sources of external market data to ensure they have a complete view of all the markets they operate in, including detailed knowledge of key competitor trading strategies.
b) Combining this external data with their own internal data, both sales and customer insight, to produce actionable market insight.
c) Supporting the development of their future trading strategy by influencing the trade plan and ranging decisions using market insight.
d) Managing various external agencies.
e) High quality analysis with actionable business recommendations.
f) Making sure the leadership team has a clear understanding of the performance of the business relative to the wider market place.

Candidate Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
a) Good numerate degree with a strong background in marketing which will include sound research / analysis skills.
b) Demonstrable success in a dynamic, fast paced business environment
c) Above average interpersonal abilities and the confidence to influence senior executive management.
d) Proven experience of managing vast quantities of data, from varying sources, to extract real insight to support strategic business decisions.
e) Self motivation, an enquiring mind, the ability to work on own initiative plus, dependant upon level of appointment, well developed project management skills
f) Sound appreciation of appropriate software and associated tools (e.g. SQL, Excel, VBA, SAS)
