Job Summary
As a senior consultant at EMC Consulting you would be trusted to lead or be a leading consultant in a business application centric infrastructure migration project encompassing server, storage and network workstreams. We are looking for someone to join us at this exciting time that can use their technical acumen and consultative skills to accelerate these projects under exacting client pressures.
This role provides the opportunity to work in fast moving and challenging environments with the top FTSE100 clients. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplined team including project management, migration experts, technical specialists and third parties.
This job is about accelerating change and reducing risk for our clients as we assist them to transition to next generation data centres to support their business.
You will be expected to take on rapid migrations with aggressive timescales, across multiple datacentres and geographies, assuring business engagement and stakeholder management throughout. You will be adept at utilising a range of discovery techniques and automation toolsets and emerging technologies to de-risk the projects and minimise impact to the business.
As part of this role, you will play a key part in developing new business, either directly with the client or in conjunction with the sales team through presentations and workshops and assisting to create business case justifications and statements of work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead or work within delivery teams to drive consistent, predictable and scalable delivery of solutions and services and to ensure successful completion of client engagements as well as overall client satisfaction.
Ability to present transformational migration approach of EMC Consulting; gathering and translating customer requirements to transform their environment as well as building the associated business case for change and an appropriate road map for implementation.
Participating in the collection of data during the discovery phase of engagements via interviews, workshops and other discovery techniques and toolsets; participating in and creation of material during the analysis phase of engagements using structured analysis techniques
Successful implementation of EMC Consulting Migration Methodologies including the associated processes required to scope, design, migrate an environment and transition to normal operations
Ability to engage with “the business” on behalf of the IT operations, to successfully position migration programmes and retain their involvement throughout the transformation, and to report on progress and manage key IT stakeholders
Ability to conduct appropriate due diligence activities prior to final contract.
Acting as quality review of Infrastructure consulting deliverables
Ensure compliance with all corporate processes that govern the management of the Practice for example time recordings, resource scheduling, SoW creation are adhered to
Support Solution Principals and account teams in scoping and positioning Infrastructure Consulting solutions
Candidate Requirements
Essential skills
Understanding of EMC's products and their value add to the customer
Understanding of enterprise operating systems, applications and middleware
Knowledge of service orientated architecture techniques and methodologies
Consulting skills
Experience of leading and active participation in complex and enterprise infrastructure consolidation and migration programs
(Excellent) written and oral communication skills and the ability to influence at a senior management level
Ability to work effectively with senior management
Ability to work in a matrix environment
Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision
Ability to lead and mentor junior members of delivery team
Continuous development of oneself and others in new thinking, approaches and methodologies
Education Required
Bachelors (Tech) or equivalent
