Job Description

Think social media can make a real difference?

We do. We improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of people affected by cancer – last year we reached four million people online. For us, social media means the UK’s largest online cancer support community. It means new opportunities to reach and engage people and different ways to communicate. And it means a wealth of content created by our community members and using the insight they give us to improve what we do next.

We need a senior social media editor to manage and grow our online community, ensuring it meets the needs of all of our audiences, including people living with cancer, campaigners and fundraisers. You’ll provide support and specialist advice on how we engage online and how this integrates with what we do already. You will also co-ordinate all of our social media activity through other channels, from our Twitter feed to fundraising snaps on Flickr.

Candidate Requirements

You're already an outstanding communicator, confidently engaging with people online and building frameworks for others to do so. Also, you have extensive experience of managing a large community, keeping it safe, supported and legal – and an excellent understanding of relevant web technologies and applications, as well as usability, accessibility and SEO. A social media evangelist, your enthusiasm will get everyone excited about what we could be doing next.

In return for your skills, enthusiasm and commitment, we will actively develop you and offer excellent benefits including a 34.5 hour week, BUPA, life assurance, pension, childcare vouchers, generous annual leave, and interest free season ticket & gym membership loans.

Closing Date: 18 Jan 2010

Interview Date: 25 Jan 2010

We value diversity in our workforce and we encourage applications from all sectors of the community.

Charity registered in England & Wales (261017) and in Scotland (SC039907). Isle of Man charity number 604
