Job Description
Overview
Econsultancy.com is a global community of digital marketing and e-commerce professionals. Headquartered in London, UK, Econsultancy has grown, since its foundation in 1999, to be one of the leading sources of research, training and events in digital marketing. In January 2009 Econsultancy opened an office in New York to grow the US business. Currently there are three permanent members of editorial staff in this office (with 30 in London) and we are looking to grow the team. Our next key appointment is an Account Director to focus on commercializing our US operation by developing and nurturing relationships with our US member base and selling corporate memberships, bespoke training programs and other services where relevant.
Role & Key Tasks
To spearhead the growth of Econsultancy’s key client and agency paying members in the US, actively working with our clients to provide insight and solutions and managing accounts. Plus, creating business development opportunities for training in the US market.
- Sales of in-house training programs
- Sales of memberships to agency and client-user companies
- Soliciting client-side attendance at Econsultancy roundtables
- Evangelizing and communicating our events including roundtable, our annual Peer Summit in New York in October and soliciting attendance from client side users
- Building and cleaning the sales database on salesforce.com to build and maintain contact details of key prospects/accounts
- Soliciting current market feedback on level of demand, insight into pricing/competition as well as potential product development
- Building relationships, and selling to key members, as well as ensuring that they are aware of our content, events and training we offer.
- Manage relationships with key clients, ensuring that we are consistently keeping them up-to-date on our offerings and services
- Report activity and sales pipeline to your line Manager in the UK (Commercial Director) on a regular basis
- Ensure clients are billed on time.
- Meeting and where possible exceeding financial targets - maximizing income potential from the core targets of memberships and training but also any other revenue opportunities that may arise (advertising, job ads, event sponsorship)
- Ensuring the highest level of customer service is consistently provided
- Working with the editorial and analyst colleagues to push new content to new and current members

Candidate Requirements
Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- At least 5 years experience working in the digital marketing sector preferably with agency experience or dealing with multiple clients
- Proven ability to develop relationships and accounts, win new business
- Excellent knowledge of digital marketing / e-commerce disciplines and strong marketing / business knowledge more generally
- Experience of training and/or events an advantage
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- A creative, inventive outlook and the ability to articulate and implement your ideas within an entrepreneurial environment
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively on several active projects at any one time
- Numerate
- A working knowledge of Microsoft office applications especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ambition, intelligence, resourcefulness, honesty
