Job Description

Role Purpose

Responsibility for the development and provision of the airlines Marketing Information Strategy. Supporting the E-commerce Commerical Manager to ensure that the information requirements of the Senior VAA Marketing management team are supported, and serviced, and proactively identify trends using customer analysis and insight to optimise VAA’s Marketing campaign performance across multiple channels.

Responsibilities  

Strategic development of VAA’s Customer Relationship Marketing strategy

To continually develop, implement, maintain and monitor the Marketing customer information strategy for VAA. Identify key stakeholders\users of marketing information, and service their information requirements in a timely and effective fashion. 
This should cover both E-commerce and Loyalty Programme Metrics  

Provision of scheduled Management Information and Customer Insight

To effectively manage the development, production and delivery of Flying Club and Website Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to the Sales and Marketing Director and the senior VAA Marketing Management teams in the UK and overseas.


Ensure a high standard of key trend analysis and management information (essential to the efficient operation of marketing operations) is continually provided to support Management decision-making. Ensure that VAA has consistent insight into business and campaign performance at every level: performance by partner, by market, by segment, channel and by product. 
Support the all areas of Marketing with analysis and insight relating to Flying Club data and Website Data, in order to identify opportunities and help determine strategic direction for the Flying Club programme and VAA Websites Ensure the provision of monthly FFP partner performance reporting for Finance and Partnership Marketing teams·
Accountable for the production and presentation of analysis to all stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis. Provide insight and analysis to inform and underpin the annual forecasting efforts of the Flying Club and Website management teams 

Provision of ad-hoc analysis and Business Intelligence  

To recommend, implement and manage database, statistical analysis and business intelligence initiatives to support decision-making. 
To provide insight and consultative advice for Marketing Managers using analysis from a combination of third party agencies, the VAA MIS team and personal analysis.  

Recommend strategic systems enhancements and solutions

Work in conjunction with the Database Marketing, Flying Club and Website management teams, making recommendations to support the strategic enhancement of operational systems in order to improve data exploitation. 
Oversee the effective implementation of any reporting enhancement requirements, and ensure thorough acceptance testing and database release planning to limit disruption to operations and other system users.  Identify and recommend appropriate analytical tools and solutions which would benefit VAA and optimise internal usage of customer data and analysis techniques.  

Domain expert for Marketing reporting and analytical environments

Responsibility for the airlines customer information reporting environment, and for having paramount knowledge of the system and its operations\limitations. 
Primary responsibility for providing information about the Flying Club and Website VAA Business Objects reporting environments, fully understanding all aspects of the system and for identifying and scoping enhancement opportunities.  Understand, document and train internal users on existing and new analytics measures available, their construction and appropriate usage.  Understanding and able to mine key systems used for analysis within eCommerce including Hitwise, WebTrends and Tealeaf.  

Provide consultancy and support for other users in the UK and overseas offices

Be a point of contact for Flying Club & Website Business Objects users in the UK and overseas offices, providing consultancy and analytical support for Marketing peers.
Offer ongoing support and information relating to reporting process best practice to UK and overseas counterparts as required. Strive to create an Office based “centre of excellence” championing the capabilities of VAA’s reporting capabilities and processes.  

Supplier management responsibility

Work closely with third party suppliers and appointed specialist Marketing agencies to leverage maximum return on investment and ensure optimal use of analysis budget.

Candidate Requirements

Requirements

Highly numerate – understanding to degree level of mathematics and statistics an advantage·

Pass at A Level Mathematics.

Some working experience of airline frequent flier programmes useful·

Strong Commercial awareness·

Expert user of Excel, intermediate user of Access etc·

Knowledge of statistical packages (eg. SASS, SPSS, S-Plus or similar) an advantage. 

Proven database marketing experience required to provide high level expertise on below the line direct marketing and database issues·

Experience of database query language such as SQL, and strong knowledge of relational databases (preferably on the Oracle platform)·

Persuasive communications skills and a strong self motivation·

Highly proficient in the use of reporting software such as Business Objects and Web Trends·

Prior experience of working in an interactive technology environment·

Proactive in problem solving and process improvement. 

Prior experience of working in an interactive technology environment.

Ability to interpret and understand technical documentation.
