The Innovation Challenge - how can organisations successfully innovate across online/offline?
Lessons from FT.com
FT.com has been consistently innovative and pioneering: it led the way with its 'metred access' subscription model online, was amongst the first to experiment with mobile and tablet apps, and is now continuing to innovate with web apps for mobile and HTML5. All this happens within the context of the wider FT brand including, of course, the printed newspaper.
So how does FT.com continue to innovate? And, as online and offline come closer together, how do you manage to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation? How does a large organisation keep up with the pace of change? Is it about senior management championing the cause? Is it about agile working processes? Is it about the working environment? Do you need separate resources to 'do innovation'? How do you justify such innovation to the business?
The management challenge in keeping up with the pace of change, and managing to innovate through a period of significant organisational transformation, is significant. Whilst FT.com might not have all the answers they've clearly been more successful than most in the last decade. Come and hear from Rob how they manage to stay ahead.
