CMS solutions deliver online task management and language translation functionality, plus enhanced developer features to streamline site development--
London, UK - November 17 2004 – Ektron Inc., an innovator in Web content management and authoring software, will showcase the newest versions of its CMS300 and CMS400.NET solutions at the CM Europe Show (Olympia, 30 Nov – 2 Dec 04). The updates deliver significant improvements for both developers and business users, helping to streamline system deployment and improve automate business process and improve productivity.
Both CMS300 and CMS400.NET offer an advanced Workflow Suite with task management features that give organisations complete control over content management processes. These solutions also offer new Web site globalisation capabilities that enable the rapid creation, translation and localisation of multilingual content. Additionally, CMS400.NET, incorporates new server controls that enable Web developers to exploit the power of Visual Studio .NET. This reduces the time and technical expertise needed to develop a content management-driven Web site or application.
“Ektron is focused on delivering affordable solutions that improve Web-based management of people, process and information,” says Ektron founder and CEO Bill Rogers. “Today, as larger numbers of knowledge workers contribute to Web strategies and touch Web content, Ektron’s new task-oriented workflow functionality enables new levels of accountability and productivity.
“As our economy becomes more global, Ektron is helping organisations deliver multilingual content. We also help organisations to reduce time and lower costs for Web and application development, by harnessing the power of the increasingly popular .NET framework.”
Ektron’s new Workflow Suite also enables non-technical site managers to assign tasks, check status, automate messaging between users, and run reports/statistics on a task or procedure. To address accountability and auditing issues, the system archives a complete history of tasks, and offers real-time task monitoring.
Ektron's new globalisation features make it easier to create and manage multiple-language versions of the same content more efficiently. Organisations can streamline the process of translating, localising and publishing content in any language (including Welsh), regardless of whether it uses internal or external translators. Each language can have its own workflow and approval process. Transmission of content to third-party agencies is simplified as a result of Ektron now supporting XLIFF, an increasingly popular translation/localisation standard. Ektron also adds ‘on the fly’ machine translation within its CMS.
With the new .NET server controls in Ektron’s CMS400.NET, developers benefit from an intuitive visual environment for integrating content management functions into Web templates, (including content blocks, list summaries, menus, search and calendars). Organisations can reduce mundane coding and development costs as developers use drag-and-drop icons and self documenting functionality.
In addition, in its latest CMS releases Ektron offers enhanced online form capabilities to improve data capture validation and searchability and reusability. Business users can build and deploy Web-based forms (HTML or XML) and run reports on data generated by the forms. Search engine optimisation is also improved with Ektron’s improved metadata support and functionality to rename URL strings.
Ektron CMS300 version 4.7 was released earlier this month, while Ektron CMS400.NET version 4.7 will be available in the UK from December 2004.
