Mykim Chikli is CEO at Performics UK. She admirably begins her average day with yoga at 5.30am! But what else does Chikli need to excel in her role? Let’s find out….

Please describe your job: What do you do?

My job is really interesting. I spend majority of my time building the Performics culture and ways of working. I want to create collaborative and healthy spaces for the team to learn and develop themselves. Performics requires a deep expertise and knowledge in the space of technology and intelligence, therefore my focus is to make sure we have a team to address these challenges to build agile products/apps for our clients. And of course, I am always caring about our clients, their business, the way we partner with them.

Whereabouts do you sit within the organisation? Who do you report to?

I am part of Publicis Media UK and my boss is Sue Frogley, CEO Publicis Media UK.

What kind of skills do you need to be effective in your role?

I need to be able to have a clear vision, be curious, mindful and calm and make decisions relative to;

  • each individual person in the team
  • what’s happening in our industry (tech, innovation, …)
  • what’s happening in our client’s business.

Tell us about a typical working day…

  • Wake up at 5:30am for meditation and yoga
  • Cycle to the office, sit at my desk around 8am with a nice herbal tea
  • Start meetings and the working day from 9am until 5pm
  • I have a short lunch in a quiet environment or with a client, a partner (media owners, journalist, Publicis colleague etc…)
  • I start winding down from 6pm and check emails , before I head back home

What do you love about your job? What sucks?

I love the contact, the work with the team, this feeling of giving and receiving, learning and growing and building meaningful work.

What sucks: the long hours.

What kind of goals do you have? What are the most useful metrics and KPIs for measuring success?

Create the best working space possible (from décor to flexible working)
Make our clients successful, by challenging them as a real partner should do
Be recognised by our industry as a key player and contributor to the business
KPIs: team satisfaction, client satisfaction and the overall Performics reputation.

What are your favourite tools to help you to get the job done?

  • The team
  • Trust
  • Technology

How did you end up at Performics, and where might you go from here?

I started in 1999 as a Digital Project Manager, building websites etc. Then I moved around the globe (US, Europe, Asia) in various leadership positions
I will probably continue to focus my time on building a strong team and one day I will leave the business to become a full time Chief Happiness Officer of my life and maybe accompany some business leaders to be more aware and mindful in the way they run their businesses; helping them build their organisations.

Which advertising/marketing has impressed you lately?

Great initiative around causes and sustainable businesses.

What advice would you give a marketer starting out?

Be curious, be humble and be bold.
