Traffic to e-commerce sites from tablets (mainly iPads) has increased by 348% year on year, and is set to rise further, with sales of tablets predicted to reach 119m in 2012.

I'm analysing traffic by device on a regular basis for my clients and always recommend creating a mobile version of their site or at least ensuring their site functions effectively on mobile devices where they get a significant level of traffic from them. If they're getting the traffic already they should definitely be looking to give that traffic the chance of converting by ensuring their site is suitable. It's also impacted how I structure my AdWords accounts in a huge way. I used to wait to see if there was much traffic from tablets before setting up specific campaigns for them but now I set them up as standard at the start of a project. The CPC is generally a lot lower and I've seen great results with it.
