Sportbuzz, the company behind online sports community Sportingo, has received $3.2m (£1.75m) in VC funding from Ingenious Media.

Sportingo, a user generated sports website, allows users to register and write articles on any sporting events The articles are then checked over by the site's editors before being published.

Articles can be commented and voted on by other users, with the top stories of the day ranked Digg-style.

The site also features a handy 'What's Online' section, which provides a calender of sporting events and links to all the sport that is available to view over the internet, from liver coverage to highlights and interviews.

Sportingo was launched in February this year, and in June acquired football blog CaughtOffside.com. Sportingo's sites attract around 550,000 monthly users.
