The US retail e-commerce market is continuing to grow rapidly, with spending up 23% in Q3 to $23.8bn (£11.6bn).  

Figures from comScore estimate that US e-commerce spending in the first nine months of the year totalled $143bn (£69.6bn) and will reach the $200bn mark for the year.

This figure was $102.1bn (£49.7bn) in 2006.

In the UK, the IMRG has reported similar growth in online retail this year - Q2 revenues were up 52.5% year-on-year, while July was a record month for online retail, with online sales totaling £4.2bn, up from £2.34bn for July 2006.

Te group predicted earlier in the year that £42bn would be spent online by UK shoppers in 2007, up from £30.2bn last year.
