If you use Google Analytics, Google has launched a new program that might be of interest.
Google Analytics IQ (short for Google Analytics Individual Qualification) is similar to the Google Advertising Professionals program, which certifies individuals who work with AdWords.
Launched this month, Google charges $50 to take the Google Analytics IQ test and provides a set of free lessons to help with preparation. These are also useful for those who simply want to brush up on their Analytics knowledge.
Google Analytics IQ is designed for individuals. It is different than Google's Analytics Authorized Consultant program, which is designed for organizations, but every organization that is a Google Analytics Authorized Consultant must have at least one member who has passed the Google Analytics IQ test.
Once an individual has passed the Google Analytics IQ test, he or she will be considered qualified for 18 months.
Although Google Analytics is unlikely to serve as the foundation for a cottage industry the size of AdWords, web analytics is often overlooked by companies. In these economic times, companies shouldn't overlook the wealth of data that they receive on a daily basis from the behavior of visitors on their websites. After all, getting people to your website is just the first step. Understanding what they're doing when they get there is perhaps even more valuable.
