Google’s website testing and optimization tool, Website Optimizer, can be a powerful tool in an online publisher's arsenal.

It enables publishers to test the impact different content and designs have on website conversions.

While Website Optimizer isn't the only solution out there for A/B split and multivariate testing, it offers a good set of features for the price (free).

Thanks to the release of The Techie Guide to Google Website Optimizer, Website Optimizer is more accessible than ever to publishers.

The 26 page PDF guide, published by Google, provides a comprehensive overview and detailed instructions for using Website Optimizer. It covers A/B testing and multivariate testing and provides step-by-step instructions (with screenshots) for getting these set up.

It also discusses advanced topics, such as server-side variables, advanced A/B testing and traffic segmentation.

All in all, The Techie Guide to Google Website Optimizer is well worth a look. If you haven't explored the use of Website Optimizer to improve your conversions, now is a great time to get started. And if you have, the guide can help you get more out of Website Optimizer's advanced features.
