Online readers of News Corp's leading media outlets in Australia and the UK- and The Sun - have been pitched against one another in a competition to win the inaugural Ashes contest.

It seems that England’s cricket fans are doing a lot better than Flintoff and his team. While the real team froze when facing Shane Warne, their Stick Cricket counterparts managed to win the second StickCricket test, levelling the series at 1-1.

Stick Cricket is on online game which requires players to hit as many runs as possible in 15 overs. Each time a match is won, a point is awarded to the users’ team.

Director of Stick Sports Paul Collins said,

"The Ashes Head2Head is turning out to be far closer than the real thing. England's fans showed the kind of character and fight that the England team could do with.”

The Ashes Head2Head games have generated an even split of internet traffic between England and Australia, with 1.2 million page views from 510,000 visits, and 260,000 unique visits. has seen its user traffic increase by more than 50% since the Ashes began.

The online game also gives advertisers a great opportunity to reach a young, predominantly male audience through a variety of interactive channels such as branding and competitions.

The third Stick Cricket test is now underway, with Australia currently leading on 8420, compared with England's 4980.
