79% of UK companies implemented inbound marketing strategies in 2014. This is a year-over-year growth of 25%.

That one stat highlights how fast inbound marketing has grown in the U.K and is comparable to the U.S adoption rate of 85%

This is impressive growth when you consider the Google trend for ‘inbound marketing’ shows that interest in the term actually started in the UK much later than in the U.S.

This growth in adoption is taken from our annual report on inbound marketing in the UK. That growth is unquestionably based on the success brands are having with inbound marketing, with one in two marketers seeing a greater ROI from their inbound efforts than they did in the previous year.

There is no doubt this success helps to create trust in a marketer’s inbound marketing plans.

Past success with inbound was cited as the top reason a marketer’s inbound marketing budget changed in 2014 and for the majority of U.K marketers, this change was a positive one; nearly one in two marketers saw their budget increase in 2014.

The following infographic gives an overview of the key findings. We hope you find it as interesting as we do and we would love to hear your feedback in the comments section.

Great post. Inbound marketing works and is 'Google proof' compared to the digital marketing tactics of yesteryear. So it's no wonder that it has taken the online marketing world by storm. I think one thing which many forget is to measure the ROI of inbound marketing.

A challenge many of our clients have is being able to produce the volume of content required to generate a good number of leads.. They often ask us 'how much content is enough?'.

At Strategic Internet Consulting we conducted our own experiment into finding out how much content you need to produce to generate leads.

Kieran,

Really nice stats and infographic. Interesting to see that email is still a strong performing lead source. Organic is one of our biggest focuses, as it is where we see the real quality leads coming from.

It will be fascinating to see the growth this time next year!

Lovely infographic! The adoption rate of inbound marketing in the UK last year is absolutely astonishing!

I wonder how many businesses that adopted it are still maintaining the required level of content production to see the results? I'd wager not that many!

Inbound marketing doesn't work unless you adopt a culture of content. Even then content marketing without the marketing is just content, and on top of that, you might not even be producing the right sort of content. I think to be successful at inbound marketing, you really need agency help.
