The recent petition against the proposed introduction of road pricing, which has gathered over 1.5m ‘signatures’, has led to a huge rise in traffic to the 10 Downing Street website.

Heather Hopkins from Hitwise has looked into the traffic to the road pricing petition website over the past month, and the demographic data reveals some interesting facts.  

The Daily Mail accounted for a number of visits to the petitiions site - the Downing Street site was the top destination after visiting dailymail.co.uk last week. This is perhaps no suprise, as the Daily Mail has given the issue plenty of coverage, as well as providing links to the petition.

Hitwise's demographic data also reveals that people visiting the petitions site are most likely to be silver surfers from the South of England - 47% of visitors in the past four weeks were over 55.
