How to make an infographic online: case study

Many moons ago, in April 2012, I wrote a humorous post about how not to make an infographic, where I enthusiastically chastised a selection of misguided visualisations.

A few people chortled and applauded at the time but many others requested a more positive follow-up post featuring helpful tips on how to actually create and promote an infographic, with personal examples.

Fair enough - and since then I've been involved in a few projects that fit the bill with the most recent example being an infographic for Snowskool,  a company that specialises in ski instructor courses.

The infographic was created as a collaboration with the talented Snowskool team and released two weeks ago on Visual.ly, Facebook, and the Snowskool blog: Myskool.

10 useful B2B marketing infographics

We see a lot of infographics here at Econsultancy and they generally focus on B2C marketing.

So to coincide with our upcoming FUNNEL B2B marketing event, we thought it would be useful to roundup some of the best B2B infographics that the web has to offer.

What we’ve noticed is that there appears to be a lot of interest in social media B2B marketing at the moment (or at least as far as infographics go there is).

But as well as social, these infographics look at inbound marketing tactics, the rise of content marketing and lead generation.

How to make an infographic online: five essential free tools

Given the popularity of infographics, you’d be wise to consider using them to help achieve your content marketing goals. They can be great for social sharing, blog fodder and inbound links.

The last time I created an infographic I used – wait for it - Microsoft Excel. Thankfully there are now some far better options, and they're surprisingly easy to use.

I have compiled five of online tools that will help you to create infographics. They’re all free, though some require registration (or to connect your Twitter or Facebook account) and most have the upgrade options.
