It’s the end of another month and therefore it’s time again to crawl through the six second efforts from brands both small and gigantic in order to bring you the very best mini advertorial marvels.
Did anyone used to watch that Jasper Carrot thing from years ago where he would sit on a stool and present weird adverts from around the world?
I suppose this is a bit like that, only this is probably slightly less interminable and you don’t have to look at Jasper Carrot’s face in between videos.
This is also less of an excuse to parade soft European erotica to a post watershed audience and more of an excuse to show how your brand can use the platform in interesting and engaging ways.
Well I’ve blathered on long enough, here’s the round-up.
Here are March's very best branded Vines, including efforts celebrating the month's biggest events: the rise of the selfie, St Patrick’s Day and, uh, Flappy Bird.
Alright, March isn’t too event-heavy, but still there’s some great Vining going on.
This month I’ll try and highlight brands that we haven’t covered as of yet. Sure Samsung, Oreo and Disney routinely knock them out of the park, but these do tend to overshadow other brand’s efforts.

Samsung has generated a bit of buzz in the tech world this week by announcing a Kanye West and Jay Z concert at SXSW that is only open to owners of its Galaxy devices.
It marks the continuation of Samsung’s association with Jay Z, as back in 2013 Galaxy owners could grab a free copy of the rapper’s new album by downloading an app.
This inspired me to delve further into Samsung’s back catalogue to see what other interesting digital marketing campaigns it had been come up with over the years.
In a sideways blow to Apple, Windows Phone and Blackberry, Android is now the dominant operating system of mobile users worldwide.
Android use has climbed from 27% in 2012 to 65% in 2013. An even more impressive figure is the 270% increase in Android use since the end of 2011.
These figures come from the Q4 2013 market research study by GlobalWebIndex (GWI), in which 170,000 respondents were interviewed in 32 markets, representing 89% of the global internet population.

Anyway, to add some context before the cavalcade of tiny entertainments begin, what’s the latest news from the world of Vine?
It’s been a big month. Vine launched a desktop site. Yes, the major social media network that has just celebrated its first birthday finally launched a desktop site. Is it any good? Just click on my post called 13 major UX flaws on social media sites to find out. I think you may be able to guess my opinion from the title.
So once again I'm rounding-up the best Vines of the month without the aid of a search field on the very social media network that I’m discussing. Fine!

In honour of Super Bowl XLVIII, the Wildcats at Unruly have shared with us their latest research on Super Bowl ads and have also revealed the top 20 Super Bowl ads of all time.
Last year’s collection of Super Bowl ads attracted twice as many shares as the previous year, in fact the number of video shares has grown 30x in the last three years. The trend is set to continue in 2014 with brand new ads from Budweiser, a British villains themed Jaguar ad and a Scarlett Johansson starring SodaStream set to be unveiled.
Here are some of the highlights from Unruly’s research, followed by the top 20 Super Bowl ads of all time.
Here are the top 10 UK brands of 2013, as nominated by YouGov's BrandIndex.
This is based on brand perception, acquired by conducting approximately 3,700 daily interviews and asking the question "If you've heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?"
It seems the most popular brand of 2013 in terms of positive regard is the BBC iPlayer, which has remained at the top spot for the last two years.
As of last weekend, Vine has finally introduced a desktop website.
I say finally, Vine has only been going a year, but it’s still been an awfully long wait. The idea that a platform as supposedly trend-setting as Vine didn’t have a desktop presence is frankly ludicrous.
I’ve been writing a regular round-up of the best Vines of the month on the Econsultancy blog for a few months now, and the lack of a searchable homepage has made this a much more long-winded exercise than necessary.

I’m going to take a look at Vine’s new UX, along with a handful of other social media sites, and highlight some of the user experience issues I’ve been having with them all.
First I’ll start with Instagram as this has been bugging me for a while now.
Samsung was named as the most shared brand of 2013 during Unruly's inaugural Video Sharing Awards (VSAs) held at the end of 2013.
Samsung achieved a total of 7.3m shares during last year. This is 2.3m more shares than second-placed GEICO and, according to Unruly, Samsung achieved a 201% increase on the previous year when it finished in eighth place.
Before we take a look at the best, and occasional worst, of Samsung’s social video strategy, here are the rest of Unruly's top ten social video brands of 2013. The figures of which account for shares across Twitter, Facebook and other social web platforms, rather than merely looking at the number of views on YouTube.
Here in my 'expert' opinion are the best Vines created by brands in 2013.
Although seeing as Vine has only existed for approximately 11 months, here are the best branded examples from the entire existence of the service. That sounds far more impressive.

Since 2009, the British Museum has educated youngsters in Bloomsbury via its Samsung Digital Discovery Centre (SDDC). It’s free, and is the most extensive on-site digital learning programme of any UK museum.
I went along to the British Museum last week to see the launch of a new image recognition and augmented reality (AR) app, A Gift for Athena, helping kids to engage with the museum’s Parthenon gallery.
The app, built by Gamar, is simple in premise and use, but also a lot of fun, showing that augmented reality can succeed when applied in the right manner.
