I’ve been experimenting with data APIs for a couple of years now. I’m not a professional developer but it’s a lot of fun to get stuck in to see what cool content and tools can be produced.  

Lately I’ve been experimenting with kimono which promises to turn websites into structured APIs from your browser in seconds.

It aims to removes the intimidating technical boundaries previously needed to develop your own API.

Sound interesting? I certainly think so!

App review: iBarcode for iPhone

German based price search engine smart.apnoti.com has just launched a new barcode scanning iPhone app, iBarcode.

The app (iTunes link) can deal with a range of barcodes (UPC8, UPC12, EAN and ISBN), which are commonly found on the packaging of consumer electricals, books, and DVDs. I've been seeing if it works...

Q&A: Kelkoo's UK MD Bruce Fair

Bruce FairKelkoo was offloaded by Yahoo to UK private equity firm Jamplant at the end of last year for a figure reported to be in the region of €100m, a good deal less than the €475m paid for the shopping comparison site in 2004.

I've been talking to Kelkoo's UK MD Bruce Fair about the company's plans now it is under new ownership...

Reevoo improves its iPhone site

I looked at price comparison websites on mobile yesterday, and found many of these sites were not up to scratch,  have not released versions for smartphones, or in many cases have not even developed mobile sites.

Of the five mobile shopping comparison sites I looked at, Reevoo's was one of the best, and has now improved its mobile offering by adding pricing information from retailers.
