This year’s V Festival will be screened live online for the first time after demand for the event outstripped supply.

The festival can be viewed on its home page and YouTube channel, and on artists’ individual websites for the duration of their performances.

The streaming service was made available after V Festival organisers struck a deal with Nokia for the launch of a V Festival mobile app on the Ovi App Store.

The free app lets Nokia handset users get news updates and travel information to and from the venue.

A Nokia spokeswoman said, “We aim to connect all those at home who missed out on tickets this year with the excitement and highlights of the V Festival.”

Paul Glossop, a V Festival spokesman, said, “Tickets sold out in 90 minutes so this is the next best thing to being there.”

V Festival headliners include Kings of Leon, Kasabian and The Prodigy.
