Nissan Europe has launched an iPhone app to create a virtual community for skiers and snowboarders ahead of this month’s Winter Olympics.

The free social media app, Ski Challenge – Prove It, allows users to find their friends on a 3D map of the slopes, read a guide to their ski resort and swap tips on Facebook.

It features interactive 3D maps of 45 European resorts including Tignes, Chamonix or Mayrhofen. Users can zoom in and locate themselves as well as their friends on the slopes.

Skiers can share tricks, publish photos, videos and events on the app’s 3D maps and Facebook, and send messages to friends or schedule meetings at the closest mountain-top bar.

The app was designed by DNA, part of French ad group Publicis, which supplies digital marketing for Nissan Europe, and Phonevalley, Publicis’s mobile marketing agency.
