Angry Birds creator Rovio Mobile is to launch an animated multiplatform TV series this autumn.

The company, which revealed the news at the MIPTV conference in Cannes, will expand the game into a weekly animation series comprising 52 episodes.

The series will be distributed across all platforms, including Samsung connected TVs. Details regarding the storylines are yet to be revealed.

The move marks the company’s ongoing expansion strategy, which has seen it extend from smartphone apps to the web. It launched a desktop version of its successful Angry Birds Game specifically for Google’s Chrome browser last May (nma.co.uk 13 May 2011).
