Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia has acquired US mobile advertising firm Enpocket as it bolsters its position in the market.
Enpocket provides technology and services for mobile advertising and delivers mobile ads in various formats, including mobile internet ads, video, SMS and MMS.
Nokia recently launched Ovi, a mobile internet service with a music store and online games.
The firm sees mobile advertising as a way of monetising its internet services for partners and customers, and the Enpocket deal will allow the firm to quickly build its mobile ad business.
Earlier this year, Nokia launched a mobile ad network that allows marketers to plan and manage ad campaigns across a wide number of mobile phone configurations.
Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
