Shopcreator, the leading portal and e-business provider, has announced that Sunderland AFC has gone live with a new online store designed, built and delivered in less than two weeks by Shopcreator.

In addition to selling merchandise, the new store has been designed to take online donations for the 'Statue of Stokoe' fund, which was launched on March 1. The fund hopes to provide a lasting memorial to 1973 FA cup-winning manager Bob Stokoe, who died on February 1 this year.

Although delivered within this tight time scale, the online store has provided Sunderland AFC with the requisite functionality to successfully integrate with its existing branded interactive portal,, the club's official website, offers fans the chance to keep up to date with all the latest news and interviews from Sunderland's camp, along with a whole host of services such as: mobile phone services, branded email, Sunderland's videolounge -SAFC.TV, a junior supporters' channel and competitions.

The online donation facility is featured within the online store and provides 24-hour support to the donations hotline, which is operational during UK business hours. The always-on website enables fans from all around the world to pledge their support for the project.

Lesley Callaghan, Communications Director at Sunderland AFC, said: "The Shopcreator online donation facility enables us to take a significant number of donations from many different countries as well as the UK. It provides the ideal method for our wider fan base to make a safe and secure donation and is directly linked to the 'Statue for Stokoe' website."

The new e-business solution is based on Shopcreator's Apex technology, enabling Sunderland AFC to build and further develop the online store over the coming weeks and months.

The Shopcreator Apex solution is entirely scalable and can be developed to meet bespoke organisational requirements, from simple online stores to solutions incorporating front- and back-end integration, to provide end-to-end supply chain solutions.

The fact that Shopcreator is the e-business engine behind many of the UK's most well-known brands was a key factor for Sunderland AFC when selecting an e-business partner.

Lesley Callaghan added: "When technology plays an important role in the success of your retail channel, it is essential to choose the correct partner. With Shopcreator you receive a dedicated, named team of specialists and a dedicated account manager in order to provide assistance with any aspect of the solution. The fact that Shopcreator provides this as standard is very important for any organisation that is serious about its e-business offering."

Alison Chapel, Head of Marketing at Shopcreator, stated, "We are delighted to be working with Sunderland AFC and to be helping the club in their efforts to raise funds for such a worthy cause. The Shopcreator team has worked hard to ensure the timely implementation of the project in order to meet specific requirements. This quick turnaround has enabled the club to realise immediate benefit and provided a firm platform on which to build for the future."

With donations continuing to pour into the fund, Sunderland AFC is now looking forward to the successful delivery of the Bob Stokoe project. Lesley
concludes: "Sunderland AFC will be exceptionally proud to have such a befitting memorial at the Stadium of Light."
