Fox Home Entertainment have teamed with Tesco online, which see the latest Fox DVD trailers feature on the popular Tesco website: http://www.tesco.com/entertainment/trailer.asp The campaign will utilise the latest online video streaming technology from London video solutions provider Trailer Player: http://www.trailerplayer.com.

Key film titles are included in the deal, which will run from October up until Christmas. The affiliation is a first for Tesco, who plan to drive DVD sales online, with the trailers providing home shoppers with a real ‘try before you buy’ experience.

‘”These trailers will ultimately provide an enhanced online shopping experience for Tescos online customers, as customers will literally be able to preview a film, before they decide to purchase it from the Tesco website’’ Colin Hulmes Tesco.com Video Buying Manager explains. “Although it is a totally new concept to introduce into our site, we feel that our customers will appreciate the facility of being able to view the latest Fox trailers whilst shopping with Tesco” he adds.

“The advanced features of Trailer Player technology were essential in clinching the deal as it is essentially a one click viewing solution’’ explains Sarah Craig at Fox. ‘’The offer of practically instant video streaming that can be operated on over 98% of home computers without the need for any prior downloads is essential if the trailers are to be placed on a site with a broad range of users such as Tesco.”

Dave Smith from Trailer Player also adds ‘’The collaboration with Tesco and Fox also coincides with the launch of a new, more powerful version of Trailer Player, which enables users with high bandwidth to view trailers ‘full screen’. Trailer Player has literally revolutionised and simplified the way we can view videos on-line.’’

About Trailer Player: http://www.trailerplayer.com

Trailer Player, developed in-house by London Interactive Marketing Agency New Media Maze allows movie clips to be easily delivered to over 98% of Internet users in a quick and simple way by streaming the clips in Flash.

Trailer Player is user and media owner friendly with current industry clients Universal Pictures Video, Momentum Pictures, 2 Entertain, Fox, DreamWorks, Channel 4 and Sega.

Trailer Player functions by detecting the internet users bandwidth and then automatically delivers the clip in an appropriate size via a user initiated pop up. This enables a customised viewing experience, fashioned to individual specifications, including internet speed and viewing window size. When the user clicks to watch the clip, Trailer Player will launch in a new window and then resize the clip in a small, medium or large format, with no decision making required by the viewer - all they need to do is sit back and watch the clip – hassle free!

A more advanced version of Trailer Player is due for release in September. Trailer Player 2 enables users with a very high bandwidth to view clips via a full screen. Keep an eye on http://www.trailerplayer.com for the latest update.

Trailer Player is a real innovation for the film industry who, until now have had to encode in Windows Media Player, QuickTime and Real Player, at low, medium and high bandwidths, Trailer Player’s technology enables full coverage with a single encode. This also means that on web sites where space is at a premium, for example online retailers, the trailer can be launched easily from a single link. Additionally, Trailer Player is easy for media owners to integrate into their websites by simply cutting and pasting a single line of code, and has shown to be accessible through the majority of Firewalls, whereas video using other players can be often blocked.
