Silicon Valley based mobile advertising company announces Stephen Upstone as first UK employee

(2nd February 2006, London, UK) Following success in the United States Rhythm NewMedia, a mobile video advertising company headquartered in Silicon Valley, has launched in the UK with Stephen Upstone, Senior Director of UK Operations, as the first employee.

Rhythm is backed by top-tier venture capitalists Lightspeed, Morgenthaler and Rembrandt. The founders are CEO Ujjal Kohli, the former CMO of AirTouch, a $3.5bn revenue US mobile operator and CTO Shaukat Shamim, an early employee at Yahoo. Shaukat pioneered the development of the instant messaging platform, Yahoo Messenger.

Rhythm NewMedia delivers targeted advertising into mobile content and is currently working with mobile operators, leading brands and advertising agencies in the US and in Europe.

Stephen Upstone has been hired to set up the UK Operation. Stephen was most recently Business Development Director of Touch Clarity, a leading advertising and content targeting company. Prior to Touch Clarity Stephen worked in advertising for Universal McCann, Michaelides and Bednash and Lowe-Howard Spink before joining venture capital boutique FirstCapital as Director.
