Third Light, a leading provider of image management solutions, announce that Xstrata Plc has launched its image library solution world-wide.

Cambridge-based software and internet services company, Third Light is proud to announce that two of its IMS (Image Management System) servers have been deployed in Xstrata’s international corporate network.

Xstrata is a major global diversified mining group, listed on the London and Swiss stock exchanges. Xstrata’s Corporate Affairs team use the Third Light image library solution to share images with staff and suppliers across four continents.

Quick returns

The new image library was installed and functional within six weeks. Brigitte Mattenberger (Corporate Affairs, Xstrata) describes the quick returns Xstrata have enjoyed:

"Since the IMS library was installed, we have been able to manage our images in a fraction of the time. Our new electronic library allows us to search and track a very wide range of marketing and corporate
photography. Producing annual reports will be so much easier now that we can track which pictures have been used in the past.

"The Xstrata IMS is 100% reliable: we have been extremely pleased with the quality of the product and the high standards of service Third Light deliver."

Secure, instant-access to images world-wide

The IMS Corporate Appliance is Third Light’s flagship product. The system allows a large library of public relations and marketing images to be available instantly across the world, improving communications and saving the organisation a significant amount of time. This secure, password-accessible solution allows collaboration between offices without relying on email, CD-ROMs and colleagues to source images.

Every time an image is downloaded, IMS creates an audit trail to help prevent inadvertent duplication by other users. The library also helps the group stay in control of its images by ensuring that all corporate images are correctly labelled with metadata, and used in accordance with their copyright terms.

Roland Henry, Third Light’s sales director comments:

“Naturally Third Light is delighted with the success of this deployment. Xstrata’s operations span four continents and seven countries so the Third Light IMS Corporate Appliance is perfect for their needs. It will undoubtedly help Xstrata’s internal communications team save a great deal of time. To achieve a six-week start-to-finish implementation was especially gratifying.”
