This month’s top site was Gwent Police, scoring 9.54 – bottom of the table, again scoring only 0.34 was Northants Police.

There were 3 (up from last months 2) website’s without any errors Leics., Tayside and Cheshire, again with Surrey Police having the highest error occurrences was with over 1,600 (also highest errors last month). Just under 15% of the errors found this month were broken links / missing files.

30% (24% last month) sites passed all Accessibility A tests (Central Scotland again failed ‘A’ and ‘AA’ accessibility checks on every page), 80% of the sites failed AA accessibility on every page.

The site with the lowest number of warnings [standards laid down by W3C and IETF] was Greater Manchester Police, West Yorkshire Police again had the poorest HTML with nearly 11,000 failures.

On checking the metadata on the front page, 37% of the sites failed to achieve even basic requirements for the home page.

One site was excluded for its reliance on JavaScript, the site being Hampshire.

Website Performance
26% sites passed all basic speed tests, looking at first page download and simulated as being viewed by users with modem [56k] and ADSL [512k] access.

The site with the fastest response time was Cumbria; Lincolnshire Police again had the slowest response time and was over 100 times slower.

The site with the fastest download speed was the National Crime Squad; again Lincolnshire had the slowest download speed and was over 200 times slower than NCS.
