Hartwell Classic Apparel Increases Online Revenues and Site Registration 300% with Scene7 Zoom and Color Swatching

Scene7’s On-Demand delivers significant time saving and user satisfaction benefits

Novato, CA — April 11, 2006 — Scene7, provider of the leading on-demand rich media platform, today announced Hartwell Classic Apparel, one of the nation's premier suppliers to the promotional products industry, is using Scene7 On-Demand to offer dynamic sizing, zoom, and color swatching on its business to business website. Within the first quarter of implementing Scene7, online registration on Hartwell Classic Apparel’s e-commerce site increased by more than 300% while unique visitors and repeat visitors increased over 600% year over year.

Hartwell Classic Apparel sells “blank” wearables and embroidered items to all segments of the promotional industry including wholesalers, corporate providers, uniform distributors, resorts, and sporting divisions. The company sells its products to customers and distributors via its web site and field sales force. In addition to its own line of clothing, Hartwell Classic Apparel also has exclusive distribution rights to 28 styles from Liz Claiborne and Claiborne for the promotional products market. Hartwell Classic Apparel wanted to add value to its web site to push beyond its competitors in the marketplace and to present its entire product line including all options and details, reflecting the high quality and innovation in its merchandise. Showcasing all of its apparel lines using lifestyle “on model” photography was an imperative by its sales force and customers. However, this “made to order” merchandise is available in up to 20 different color fabric options, making it difficult to offer all options using expensive lifestyle imagery. In addition, Hartwell was manually creating all web imagery sizes for its website, a costly and time-consuming effort.

To solve these problems, Hartwell Classic Apparel sought Scene7 On-Demand to dynamically generate all colors, sizes and zoom imagery. In less than a month, Scene7’s solution reduced Hartwell Classic Apparel’s production time and costs by more than 60% while dramatically enhancing its product presentation online. Customers can now see the fine detailing that distinguishes the company’s products from its competition. All available fabrics and colors are visually presented, computer-generated from original master images – allowing the company to avoid significant photography costs and production time.

“We chose Scene7 because of its broad capabilities delivered from one integrated ASP platform as well as its portfolio of industry leading clients. Scene7 products and services have been excellent with our first implementation of zoom and color swatching,” said Jason Padgett, Senior Designer, Hartwell Classic Apparel. “The simplicity of its on-demand system allowed us, in a very short period of time, to simplify our sales process and reinforce our brand image by demonstrating our innovation and product quality.”

Using an innovative user interface design, Hartwell integrated dynamic zoom and color viewing imbedded within its product page –requiring no pop-up. Customers can seamlessly toggle to each view or fabric and even download directly any high resolution image of any sku for their own marketing purposes. Hit counts on its site continue to grow and page loads per day have increased from 27 to 500 – proving how the enhanced site features have become a valuable sales tool.
“Hartwell Classic Apparel’s implementation of our rich media platform and the immediate ROI from this solution is a testament to the value of Scene7 solutions,” said Doug Mack, CEO Scene7. “We look forward to working with Hartwell Classic Apparel as it continues to innovate and bring improved visual merchandising online.”
