This month’s top site was again Cheshire Police, scoring 9.34 (up from last months 8.26) – bottom of the table, scoring only 0.34 was Northants Police. There were 2 website’s without any errors Tayside and Cheshire, Surrey Police had the highest error occurrences was with over 1,600 (also highest errors last month). Just over 15% of the site errors found this month were broken links / missing files.

14 sites passed all Accessibility A tests (Central Scotland and PSNI failed ‘A’ and ‘AA’ accessibility checks on every page), 31 sites had less than 10% of pages with failures.

The site with the lowest number of warnings [standards laid down by W3C and IETF] was Cheshire Police with 5. West Yorkshire Police had the poorest HTML with over 11,000 failures.

On checking the metadata on the front page, 36% of the sites failed to achieve even basic requirements for the home page.
Website Performance

16 sites passed all basic speed tests, looking at first page download and simulated as being viewed by users with modem [56k] and ADSL [512k] access.

The site with the fastest response time was Hampshire; Lincolnshire Police had the slowest response time and was 317 times slower. During the tests, Lincolnshire’s site was taking up to 30 seconds to respond. The site with the fastest download speed was Staffordshire; Lincolnshire had the slowest download speed and was 500 times slower than Staffordshire Police.
