Digital studio Bluish and technical agency Neoworks have been commissioned to create a totally new website for stock image agency Science Photo Library (SPL). The new site, due to launch later this year to coincide with SPL’s 25th anniversary, will be completely redesigned, improve usability and accessibility and expand the current online activities to include e-commerce.

Bluish have worked with SPL since 1998, and chose Neoworks as technical partner for the new site based on their expertise and high standards, and their ability to work to an exacting and unusual technical specification. It was also felt that the strong cultural fit between the two companies would benefit the project.

“Neoworks are very much in tune with our requirements and approach. Bluish wanted complete control over the front end of the site, a clear division of labour, and a partner who shared our attention to detail and high standards. Together we will produce a world-class site that will take SPL to the next level.” Said Dulcie Fulton, Director, Bluish.

“Creating the new SPL web site is an exciting technical challenge and will deliver an exceptional experience to users and streamline back office operations. The long-term value will come through the flexibility and scalability of the solution, facilitating growth and innovation for SPL's online business.

Our consultative technical approach and long term commitment to our clients and partners will provide SPL with an excellent solution to meet their current needs and first class technical support in their future plans.” Said Nigel Atkinson, Director, Neoworks.

“We are very excited to be working on our new website with Bluish and Neoworks. SPL has a long-standing relationship with Bluish, whose stylish and functional designs have been responsible for making our current site so popular. Neoworks are an excellent and very skilful team of software developers and they had the challenge to create a flexible database to manage our growing archive of a quarter of a million images used online by thousands of clients.“ Said Giancarlo Zuccotto, Director, Science Photo library
