HMV, the UK & Ireland’s leading music, dvd & games multi-channel specialist, today announces the official launch of its new downloads website, www.hmvdigital.com.

HMV successfully introduced its HMV Digital service just over a year ago on September 5th 2005, offering a wide range of music, high quality presentation and flexible pricing, supported by national in-store product advice and expertise.

This next, exciting phase of the HMV Digital offering, which launches 28 September, provides customers with a new and direct method of purchasing permanent music downloads from HMV’s huge library of over 2m tracks and albums. By visiting www.hmvdigital.com, online customers can search for tracks and albums from their favourite artists and download directly to their PCs, without the need to install the HMV Digital ‘jukebox’, or music management software.

Other features on the new hmvdigital.com site include:

• Exclusive artist playlists
• Same customer login as HMV.co.uk / HMV Digital

Unlike some digital stores, HMV Digital also offers a monthly subscription service, HMV Unlimited, and for those customers looking to access this online and to transfer and manage selected tracks onto their MP3 players, software for the media player can be downloaded from hmvdigital.com as well as from the existing site at hmv.co.uk.

The hmvdigital.com site has been designed and built by digital design agency Conchango, who were engaged by HMV following a competitive pitch for the business. The site now possesses a rich, intuitive interface featuring enhanced search and navigation functions, while content has also been expanded.

Conchango’s proven track record in taking brands online in a practical but impactful way was a key determining factor for HMV as it looks to seamlessly translate its renowned customer experience into the digital arena. Conchango previously worked with HMV for more than two years on the project to design and build, with Microsoft, HMV Digital’s original PC jukebox application and store.
