Newly formed marketing agency satiworks is behind the re-vamped website of up and coming band, The Aliens (former Beta Band and Lone Pigeon members).

In a move away from the standard band-sites, www.thealiens.co.uk has – much like the band itself – gone back to basics. You will find no spinning heads, flash designs or ever so frustrating ‘please wait ten more minutes for the next page to upload’ messages.

Tine Frank, satiworks PR & Communications Consultant, explains; “When we designed the layout for the site we asked ourselves the same question we always do when approaching a new project; do the visitors really want flash visuals or rich content? Increasingly we find the answer to that question is the latter, and for the Aliens site we decided to downplay the design elements and went for a content-driven site instead. Based on our research we know that fans go to band sites a) to get facts such as tour and release dates and reviews, b) listen to tracks and watch videos and c) interact with and get to know members of the band. The new site will provide all this in a site that is easy to find, easily accessible and most importantly, the content reflects the personalities of the Aliens, allowing fans a glimpse in to the minds of the three aliens and their alter egos.”

The back-end solution and programming was carried out by the band’s record label EMI, and will allow for the band to easily upload messages and images, even whilst on tour. So far the feed-back has been incredibly positive. Says John Maclean of The Aliens; ”At last we have a site which suits us – no flash, user friendly and easy to read and up-date. Great stuff! The feedback has been fantastic and it has been refreshing to work with designers who listen and understands the band’s needs and ‘look’.”

This isn’t ground-breaking stuff, only in so far that it’s a site that has been developed with the fans in mind and not to win fancy awards…..we’ll leave that to The Aliens!
