Channel Intelligence Product Attribute Webinar Helps Answer Questions for Online Retailers

Orlando, FL – March 21, 2007 – Channel Intelligence today announced that its free webinar, which broadcasted Thursday March, 15, 2007 and is now available for download, helped online retailers better understand the new data initiatives around product attributes. The webinar titled “Product Attributes: Making Your Data Compliant in Online Channels” drew close to 150 registrants and was attended by nearly 100 industry professionals.

“The goals of the webinar were to help explain the new mandate from Google regarding Google Base, as well as explain how other sites like Amazon.com and MSN Shopping are using product attributes, ” states Steven Roth, VP of Product Management for Channel Intelligence and webinar host. “It’s vital that online retailers fully understand this market shift as it will directly affect their ability to perform better and experience higher conversion rates on these sites”.

The webinar defined and explained key terminologies including product attributes and guided product search to help attendees better understand what sites like Google and Amazon are asking for and why. It also includes visual examples of how each site leverages product attributes and what effects it has on consumer behavior. Online retailers are looking to understand better how to implement these concepts, as initial results indicate that consumers who filter or narrow their search using product attributes are closer to making a purchase than shoppers using standard search features.

“Though some sites aren’t yet requiring attributes, I recommend all online retailers optimize their product catalogs to include as many attributes as possible, “adds Roth. “I see Google Base becoming the catalyst in the online shopping arena where we’ll see more than just Amazon and MSN Shopping requiring or requesting product attributes this year.”
