Steak Media today announces the appointment of Naomi Lennon as Mobile Marketing Account Director. Reporting directly to Tony Samios, COO, and Oliver Bishop, CEO, this new role will be key in helping the company in its expansion from a specialist search agency into a full service online media agency. She will be growing a mobile team for the company in 2007.

Ms. Lennon joins Steak from Walker-i. Beginning her career as a Sales Executive for a city publication, she moved to the agency side as a TV buyer for Unilever at MindShare UK. An increasing interest in the future of IPTV and mobile led her to transfer to MindShare Interaction, where she worked on digital campaigns for clients such as 3 Mobile and Volvo.

Commenting on her appointment: "I am excited to be involved with developing Steak Media's mobile offering at a time when the medium is revolutionising our ability to target and create dialogue with consumers. Although still in its infancy, I believe mobile is already proving to be the most important media that has developed to date and will continue to grow value for advertisers and consumers alike. Mobile is the one communication device consumers don’t leave home without; it’s the one marketing channel which allows a brand to interact with the consumer wherever he is".

Steak CEO Bishop says: “Mobile has been on our radar as a marketing channel since Day One. With Naomi’s arrival, we broaden the reach of Steak’s expertise in search in what is, for us, the next logical step. Our clients want to see us promote their brand across multiple channels, creating an integrated marketing experience for their customers. And mobile is definitely complementary for search, allowing advertisers to get in front of an audience that is hard to reach via static, fixed point media channels, such as tv or print.
“As Naomi implies, some communities are constantly on the go -- such as 18-24 year olds, or high-flying professionals -- but their mobile is the one sure point of contact, it’s always with them. Combine this with a growing interest in receiving info on demand, at “the point of inspiration”, as it were and a certain jadedness with one message/mass audience communications, and you have a very persuasive way of giving your target audience what it wants, when it wants and how it wants, thus increasing the chance of conversion and/or purchase.

Duncan Parry, Director of Strategy, concurs: "Recent developments in the industry show that this is the direction forward. Since January 2007 alone we’ve seen: the inaugural mobile marketing agency joining the IAB; the launch of the Sony Ericsson Walkman phone as a shot across the bow to Apple’s recent iPhone; the Emap acquisition of Yospace Technologies; search network Overture announcing a deal to supply paid-for search listings on parent company Yahoo!'s WAP site; Google testing a mobile-specific version of their maps; and Friends Reunited launching a free service to let members upload photos from their mobile phones to online profiles; The last two hint at bigger things to come for the convergence of social networking and mobile Internet. And news comes out every day heralding new mobile marketing developments.”
