1. I AM HUMAN becomes Carbon Clear

Climate change is a global issue that will affect us locally. That is why we have chosen to work with Carbon Clear to offset our harmful emissions. Paving the way I AM HUMAN has become one of the first web design companies in the UK to voluntarily offset Carbon Emissions caused by it's business.
I AM HUMAN emitted 3.04 tonnes of carbon in 2006 which have now been offset.
By being Carbon Clear in the first place we can concentrate our efforts on further reducing our Carbon Footprint and other ways of helping reduce global Carbon Emissions.
It has been proved that Carbon Emmisions have a direct result on Global Warming and we chose a company we felt had the experience and wherewithal with projects outside the UK where their work is most needed.
The issue of Climate Change has long been with us and it was I AM HUMAN's Director Brett Jefferson Stott who, after seeing Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth", felt that the time to act was now and in so doing would start encouraging other businesses and humans to do the same. The fees involved are DRAMATICALLY lower than people assume, with a European flight being less than £10.

http://www.climatecrisis.net - AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH offers a passionate and inspirational look at one man's fervent crusade to halt global warming's deadly progress in its tracks by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it.
That man is former Vice President Al Gore...

Carbon Clear is an ethical for-profit business.
They help environmentally responsible organisations and individuals reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
Their carbon offset projects improve local living conditions in developing countries while helping the environment.
Carbon Clear work with businesses to help them reduce their greenhouse gas emissions where possible, and to calculate the emissions that cannot be avoided. They then sponsor tree planting projects overseas that remove the right carbon dioxide released from the atmosphere. Mark Chadwick, Director and Founder of Carbon Clear said "A Carbon Clear business is one that can operate without adding to the problem of global warming. Their customers can buy safe in the knowledge that theyíre make a responsible choice".

I AM HUMAN are currently developing a website for Solar Century called Solar4Schools.
I AM HUMAN have designed and programmed the website and have launched phase one which allows for applicants to apply to the program online.
Phase two is in production and will facilitate the display of successful applicants and case studies and will go live in mid March 2007.
The website is being built using a variety of components and technologies fused together to form a seamless and intuitive online application for users and is aimed at teachers, parents and young people.

On 11th December 2006, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched the £50 million, Phase two, Low Carbon Building Programme (LCBP), a grant scheme designed to reduce the cost of renewable energy systems by part funding installations on public sector buildings. Grants are being awarded from the DTI to cover 50% of the cost of solar power, or photovoltaic (PV), installations across schools, housing authorities, housing associations and other public sector and charitable bodies throughout the UK. Solar PV provides a powerful visual demonstration of how micro renewables can be incorporated into buildings to help meet broader Government aims of carbon reduction by encouraging energy efficiency and on-site renewable energy generation. PV installations on schools and colleges also help educate the next generation about the importance of renewable energy.

Solar4Schools is a partnership between solarcentury and Scottish and Southern Energy. Solarcentury is the UK's leading solar energy company, specialising in building integrated photovoltaics. We have installed over 500 large-scale commercial and public sector PV systems in the UK since 1998, and literally thousands of small domestic installations both directly and through our network of associate installation companies. Solarcentury were one of the few successful bidders chosen to supply renewable energy systems to schools and other public sector building projects under the LCBP programme. Our partners, Scottish and Southern Energy who supply over 7.5 million customers with electricity and gas, and are a UK leader in renewables, will help deliver the solar systems for schools throughout the UK. Together this powerful partnership marries the best best of British solar energy experience with exemplary nationwide electrical installation capacity.
