Portobello is perhaps most famous for its antiques and market stalls but there is much more to be discovered in this spirited area of West London. including a rich local history of musical legend.

Such legend is best epitomized by Shoot Portobello's host, the 30-year-old Rough Trade shop on Talbot Road, recognized as "the world's greatest record store" by the likes of TimeOut, The Guardian and NME.

With a little help from the Rough Trade shop, participants of Shoot Portobello get to discover the exciting and eclectic cultural history of the area by solving the clues revealed on the day and taking photos of the answers.

The more creative the photos, the better the chance of winning one of the great prizes..

Shoot Portobello takes place on Saturday 31st March 2007, with start and finish proceedings taking place at the newly renovated and community driven Westbourne Grove Church.

All participants must register their team online first - visit for more details.

Shoot Portobello is a team event for friends and families, young and old (2-4 people per team). All each team needs (having registered) is a single digital camera and bags of creative energy. Once the clue sheet and map is collected from the rendezvous point (Westbourne Grove Church) teams then spend the afternoon immersed in the area, deciphering clues/taking photos as answers.

Once complete, teams return to Westbourne Grove Church to submit their
photos, where they then relax as a slideshow of the days images commences and the judging of entries gets underway.

As far as participant skills required, creative interpretation, community interaction and emotional input are valued above technical proficiency, so participants needn't worry if they're not a professional photographer!

The day finishes with drinks and the all-important awards - winning teams for each clue/overall categories receive fantastic prizes (e.g. Olympus cameras - see
