vcmedia, ValueClick Europe’s online advertising sales house, has announced it is moving from a traditional ‘blind network’ to a new transparent model, offering advertisers the first truly visible network in the UK.

vcmedia is leading the charge on this issue in an attempt to bring more transparency to the online advertising market. The blind network system means that advertisers are not told in advance where any adverts will appear, in an effort to protect publishers’ ad rates. The new transparent model means that advertisers will be aware in advance of the publisher sites on which their ads could appear.

Currently, vcmedia has 10,000 sites with UK traffic; the company is able to name the majority of the network and is aiming for 100% transparency in the very near future. vcmedia offers network and channel advertising to almost 13 million unique users and has a UK reach of 68.4%* of the UK internet population. The company also works with publishers on the network and exclusive sites.

Richard Sharp, UK Managing Director, vcmedia said, “Over the past few years, the industry has made great strides in increasing reputation and reliability. We believe there is scope for bringing greater trust into publisher, agency and advertiser relationships. A fully visible network will provide our clients with more information and transparency, resulting in more effective campaigns. We urge other networks to follow our lead.”

“This decision will build on the excellent work that the Internet Advertising Sales Houses (IASH) – of which we are a founding member – has been doing. We truly believe that this strategic change to our business will transform us and our industry.”
