17 May 2007, London, UK – The Search Works, the European leader in search marketing services for online advertisers, today announces that it has promoted Jim Brigden, formerly Managing Director, to the role of CEO. In a related move, Stephanie Carr takes over from Jim Brigden as Managing Director. She was previously Deputy Managing Director. Nick Hynes remains CEO of The IMW Group (The Search Works and The Technology Works) and becomes Chairman of both companies.

Both promotions are part of an overall business reorganisation that will see The Search Works strengthen its commitment to delivering vertical-specific services and expertise to the fastest growing sectors for search marketing, namely finance, travel, retail and recruitment.

According to latest figures from the Internet Advertising Bureau, paid-for search increased last year by 52% to £1.2 billion. This represents a 57.8% share of the total online advertising spend which has now overtaken traditional advertising media such as national newspapers. “As search marketing continues to gather momentum, it’s important that we adapt to the dynamics that are driving its growth. With our strengthened vertical focus, customers can expect to be working with a team that truly understands their business issues, competitors and audiences.” explains CEO Jim Brigden.

Specifically, The Search Works has appointed Sally Wright (formerly Client Services Director) to Business Director for retail and travel. At the same time, Gavin Ailes (formerly Commercial Director at sister company, The Technology Works) becomes Business Director for recruitment and classified advertising.
