CAMBRIDGE, UK, 21 May 2007 – Zeus Technology, a leading provider of award-winning application traffic management software, today announced the launch of ZXTM (Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager) software for Windows.

ZXTM is the only Layer 7 Traffic Manager to run on Microsoft Windows server systems, providing a well-proven alternative to more expensive, less sophisticated hardware load balancers. ZXTM enables enterprises to deploy load balancing, high availability, traffic shaping, acceleration, security and sophisticated traffic management policies within their Windows-hosted infrastructure.

The Windows version of ZXTM will be attractive to businesses that have standardized fully on Microsoft infrastructures. ZXTM will allow customers to manage web and application traffic management using their own IT infrastructure, avoiding the expense, management and limited shelf life of proprietary hardware appliances.

“With a Microsoft-centric infrastructure, we needed a traffic manager capable of integrating with our existing IT investments,” said Ray Anderson, CEO of Bango, a Zeus Technology customer. “For us, the ability to easily configure ZXTM with TrafficScript(TM) means we don’t have to be Linux experts.”

“At present, businesses running on Windows have an extremely limited choice of traffic management solutions. Hardware can be expensive and current load balancers are often too basic to meet the requirements of running anything more than the most simple of websites,” said Paul Di Leo, CEO of Zeus Technology.

“The ZXTM Windows software hits the sweet spot by providing the functionality offered by high-end hardware-based traffic management devices while delivering the cost efficiency and convenience that current software-based solutions offer.
“ZXTM has always been the industry’s most flexible traffic management solution, and with the launch of the Windows platform can now be deployed in almost any operating environment,” he said.

“With the Windows version of ZXTM, Zeus is bringing true traffic management to the masses,” commented Steve Broadhead, Founder and Director, Broadband-Testing Labs. “The increasing complexity of traffic types now running across networks means that all users, not just major enterprises, need the kind of optimisation, resilience and flexibility that ZXTM provides, so this is a major step forward - well done Zeus.”

The Windows version of ZXTM extends the wide range of platforms that ZXTM is available on, which also includes software for Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris, Virtual Appliances for VMware Virtual Infrastructure and a range of complete hardware appliances.
