Online office products retailer selects Lyris to develop customer loyalty

Euroffice.co.uk, the UK’s leading online office supplier for small businesses, has selected email marketing specialist Lyris UK (www.lyris.co.uk) to support its ambitious growth targets, which saw the company grow 35 percent last year. The targeted digital B2B communications will focus on engaging customers and extending loyalty to the Euroffice brand.

Euroffice.co.uk competes with other longer-established, heavyweight players in the office products market by retaining an online-only business model that is flexible and can adapt quickly and easily to customer requirements and market conditions. Email is a key element in its marketing strategy and was initially undertaken using an in-house system. However, in recognition that it required a more powerful and sophisticated technology platform to fuel its continued growth, in 2006 Euroffice researched the market for email products available and services used by other online retailers. Lyris ListManager met all its needs and was endorsed by other B2B marketers.

George Karibian, Managing Director & Co-Founder of Euroffice.co.uk, explains: “We continually look for ways in which to make our business more efficient so that we can be confident that that we are providing consumers with the very best service available. In line with this objective, we put together a 'wish list' of what we wanted to achieve from our email marketing. Very simply, Lyris ticked all the boxes – and more. Using Lyris ListManager enables us to communicate more effectively with our customers and ensure that they have immediate access to all the best deals on office products.”

Euroffice now sends 170,000 emails per week as part of its customer retention activity. The content and timing of these reflect that its B2B offering competes with B2C messages in recipients' inboxes. In addition, to ensure it maximises the potential of Lyris ListManager, Euroffice benchmarks itself in terms of open and click-through rates, and conversions achieved in the B2C sector where email marketing activity is more developed.

“The power of email marketing is not yet used extensively in the B2B sector,” said Andrew Robinson, managing director of Lyris UK. Euroffice has broken the mould by combining the strength of its B2B offering with the appeal of B2C communications to create a digital direct mail campaign that will forge customer relationships and drive brand awareness.”
