10 May 2007, London, UK – The Search Works, the leading provider of search marketing services to online advertisers, was today announced as the UK’s top search agency for the second year running, ranking in first place in the 2007 NMA Marketing Services Guide, with a turnover nearly twice as high as that of its nearest competitor.

The Search Works more than doubled its turnover in the 12 months from January to December 2006 from £20.74m to £50.18m. This growth, at 142%, far outpaces the overall growth of search marketing, which as an industry grew by 52% in 2006. Jim Brigden, CEO, attributes the success of the business to the broadening of its offering into areas beyond paid search, in line with market and client demands. “We’ve always considered search marketing to be direct marketing on the web, and just as DM has a breadth of focus, so too does search. SEO is now integral to our business alongside PPC and we expect in 2007 to broaden our business further into other areas of online lead generation” he comments.

Also testament to the growing importance of search in the marketing mix is the fact that, had The Search Works been listed in the recent Nielson Top Media agency list for 2006, it would have ranked as the 21st largest media buying agency in the UK, higher than many other established media heavyweights. Given the scale of media buying power of these businesses it is impressive that a company such as The Search Works could reach this level through just one medium – search.
