Totesport has announced this week that it is launching a viral game to promote betting on the forthcoming Euro 2004 Championships. Skive Creative has been commissioned to design and develop the interactive execution, following a successful campaign produced for totesport around the Cheltenham Festival.

“Beat the Wall” places the user as a generic England free-kick taker, and requires them to score six goals from increasingly difficult positions, each position representing a different match in the tournament. The game has been programmed in Shockwave and will make good use of 3D acceleration.

Riman Verma, Online Partnerships Manager for totesport says: "Viral marketing is a key component of totesport’s brand awareness and customer acquisition strategy. The Euro 2004 Championships provide the perfect opportunity for us to develop an exciting, compelling campaign whilst promoting our exciting range of Euro 2004 betting opportunities. After the success of the “Beat the Rush” execution around Cheltenham, we are pleased to be commissioning Skive again.”

The campaign is aimed at men and women aged 18-45 years, and will be placed on sites such as TTR2 and a network of other viral Blogs and portals, as well as being distributed to totesport’s database of online customers.

Skive’s Managing Director, Sean Singleton says: “Despite working with many sports brands over the past three years, Skive has never made a free-kick game before so we are very excited by this unique brief from totesport. We have tried to approach this differently and aim to produce the best game in what will doubtless be a very crowded market.

“Using 3D Shockwave will help make the game play more immersive and graphically impressive. We have high hopes for the execution and our ongoing relationship with totesport.”

The game will be accessible at www.totesportgame.com/euro2004 on the 9th June.

Recent Skive campaigns include work for clients such as PlayStation 2, Weetabix, Sony Ericsson, EMAP, AXA, and Hasbro.
