Brighton-based Pure ( is helping a local charity event raise funds to build primary schools in the poorest rural districts of East Africa.

Email marketing company Pure employs account manager Simon Welsh, who organises the Brighton live band event Strawberry Social which gives all profits to the Build a School campaign in Kenya (

Pure has made a donation to the charity and is providing its email technology, PureResponse, for free to spread the word and publicise the themed events; sending flyers and information to those interested in finding out more. 2007’s first Strawberry Social – Strawberry Circus - took place on 6th May, and raised £5,600 for the African schools project. An Autumn event, called Strawberry Jam, will take place in October with the aim of raising further funds for the charity.

“We are so pleased to be able to help such a good cause with our email platform PureResponse,” said Darren Fell, Founder of Pure. “Email is an ideal way for charities to communicate with supporters, and will ensure that the message about this event is spread and a meaningful amount of money is generated for the schools project.”

Simon Welsh, organiser of Strawberry Social, said: “The Strawberry Social seems to get bigger every time it hosts an event to help ‘Build Africa’. Its essence, which is networking people to provide their collaborative expertise in support of an education for young people in Kenya and Uganda, has been embraced by Pure and the people of Brighton.”
