London, England (19 October, 2007) As UK retailers discover the benefits of advertising on comparison shopping engines (CSEs), they also face challenges that can depress performance. Channel Intelligence (CI) illustrates effective ways UK retailers can advertise products on comparison shopping engines and overcome these challenges in a recently published case study with leading UK consumer electronics retailer UK Digital Cameras. The company will discuss the best practices for advertising on comparison shopping engines in a case study with UK Digital Cameras at eCommerce Expo on 31 October, 2007.

“UK Digital Cameras recognised the benefits of advertising their products in the shopping engines, and received sales as a result from these channels. But their performance suffered due to several factors,” explained Niall O’Gorman, Managing Director for Europe for Channel Intelligence. “We are thrilled to see the difference we are continuing to make as we work with UK Digital Cameras to streamline efforts, optimise product data and provide access to performance data.”

Channel Intelligence worked with UK Digital Cameras to implement best practices in comparison shopping engine management through its SellCast™ Online Marketing solution. As a result, the retailer realised efficiencies that improved its overall cost-per-order profitability and reduced ad spend by 40 percent. In addition, the time commitment required by staff was reduced by 15 hours per week.

Managing Director of UK Digital Cameras Andrew Showman commented, “Channel Intelligence has really helped us improve our marketing efforts on CSEs. We knew that we were possibly losing money related to click-costs due to inaccuracies in our feeds, and our manual process was an inefficient use of internal resource time. We wanted to ensure that we were getting a positive ROI for not only each CSE and each category, but for each product, as well.”

O’Gorman will be presenting the best practices that enable European retailers to harness the advantages of targeted leads and increase online sales through comparison shopping engines such as Google UK, Price Runner UK, Shopping.com UK and Kelkoo at the eCommerce Expo on 31 October in a session titled “Effective Ways to Advertise Products on Comparison Shopping Engines – A Client Case Study”.
