Digital Communications agency Lateral have been appointed by Little, Brown Book Group to develop their new website having been recommended to pitch.

Little, Brown has recently become part of Hachette Livre UK, the largest book publishing group in the United Kingdom. Little Brown’s imprints include Little, Brown; Abacus; Virago; Sphere; Piatkus; Orbit and Atom.

Lateral has worked with Little, Brown to develop an editorial-based approach to content which will appeal to various audiences, that includes consumers, existing and prospective authors, as well as members of the book industry who will be able to access specific rights and permissions trade information.

Lateral’s design for the website will be based around Little, Brown’s new corporate branding which has been developed in conjunction with the design agency Unreal. The project also involves the development of a content management system and the implementation of e-commerce functionality.

“The look and feel of the site is to reflect the feeling of when someone goes in to a bookshop, browses its titles, is attracted by a cover and then looks in more depth.” Said Mathew Riley, Group Account Director, Lateral.

The website, which launches in Q4, will include a Little, Brown blog, audio and video content; author interviews, free content and book extracts; exclusively commissioned articles and regular competitions, newsletters and news feeds.

“The site will go from simple but comprehensive book lists to each genre covered extensively with exclusive editorial and features.
