Hachette Filipacchi UK is using email marketing to extend Sugar and ELLE’s brand presence among subscribers of the two monthly titles.

The publishing house, which publishes eight generation defining consumer magazines in the UK, has appointed email marketing specialist Pure to help it keep in touch with Sugar and ELLE readers throughout the month with newsletters, competitions and offers.

Hachette Filipacchi UK will use Pure’s PureResponse email platform to create, send and monitor campaigns to subscribers.

“Appointing Pure to implement email campaigns for ELLE and Sugar readers will help us gain a greater understanding of our subscribers’ likes and preferences,” said Mark Bodha, Web System Administrator at Hachette Filipacchi UK. “At the moment we are using email as a brand presence tool; establishing some continuity in our on and offline communication with readers. The greatest benefit is being able to use Pure’s Enterprise Level Reporting software to see how recipients are interacting with emails.”

Hachette Filipacchi is also looking to increase traffic to the Sugar and ELLE web sites with the email newsletters.

“This is the first time that Hachette Filipacchi has used email as a professional marketing tool – aligning the quality of its off and online communications,” said Darren Fell, Founder and Major Accounts Director at Pure. “Sugar and ELLE readers will be reminded of the magazine brand via email campaigns long after they have finished reading each issue. Hachette Filipacchi will also be able to increase visitor numbers to Sugarmagazine.co.uk and ElleUK.com.”

Sugar is the UK’s best selling teen magazine selling 187,059 copies a month. ELLE is the world’s biggest selling fashion magazine and sells 203,302 copies a month in the UK. (Source: ABC January-June 2007)
